A New Chapter: My Sister Vanessa Is Becoming My Vocal Coach

Some moments are exciting because something new is beginning. They become even more special when you get to share them with someone you love.

Besties, I am so happy to finally share that my older sister, Vanessa Wong, will be serving as my vocal coach as I continue developing my voice and working toward the release of my first original music.

This is more than a new step in my career. It means so much to me because I get to experience it with someone I have loved, admired and looked up to my entire life.

From watching my sister to working beside her

Long before I ever stepped into a recording studio, I watched Vanessa follow her own path in music. Like most little sisters, I grew up watching everything my big sister did. But Vanessa was never only someone I admired from a distance. She was also the person who encouraged me, protected me, celebrated me and reminded me to believe in myself.

She appeared on La Voz Kids when she was 14, the same age I am now, and later competed on American Idol. She continued growing as a singer, songwriter and recording artist. She released original music in English and Spanish and learned firsthand how much discipline, courage and patience it takes to build a career in music.

Vanessa also went to college, earned her degree in marketing and launched her own businesses. I am proud of everything she has worked for. Watching her has taught me that being an artist is about more than performing. It is also about learning, working hard, creating opportunities and believing in your ideas.

I saw the exciting moments, but I also saw the work behind them: the vocal training, rehearsals, recording sessions, creative decisions and determination that people do not always get to see.

Vanessa has always been someone I admire, not only because of her talent and everything she has accomplished, but because of the person she is. She is loving, honest, hardworking and always there when I need her. Now, having her beside me as my vocal coach makes this chapter feel even more special.

She knows when to challenge me, when to encourage me and how to help me express what I really want to say through music. She can tell when I need another try, a little more confidence or simply a hug. Most importantly, she knows me as a performer, as a person and as her little sister

Finding my own voice

Dance will always be a huge part of who I am. It taught me how to hear music differently, express feelings without words and tell a story through movement.

As I begin developing as a recording artist, I am learning how to bring those same skills into my voice. Singing gives me another way to connect, share what I feel and bring music, dance, performance and visual storytelling together.

Vanessa is not trying to make me sound like anyone else, including her. She wants to help me discover my own voice. She is teaching me how to improve my vocal technique, become more confident and communicate real emotion through a song while still sounding like myself.

That means so much to me. I want the music I create to feel honest, hopeful and full of heart. I want every song, performance and visual to reflect who I am, what I believe and the love and positive energy I hope to share with all of you.

The story behind “Good Enough”

This new chapter follows my signing with music executive and producer Eric T. Johnson for management through N.I. Music Group.

I am currently developing my debut original single, “Good Enough,” with an incredible creative team working between Florida and Los Angeles. I wrote the song with Eric and songwriter and producer Daniel Jacobson, known professionally as Danny Jay.

“Good Enough” is about something many of us experience. It is about the pressure to appear perfect and the way comparison can make us question our own value, especially when we are growing up in a world where so much of life is shared online.

The message is very personal to me. You do not have to become someone else's version of perfect to deserve your dreams. Choosing authenticity, passion and growth is more powerful than constantly trying to prove that you are enough.

I cannot wait for you to hear it when the time is right.

My development as an artist has already included recording at Plush Recording Studios and production work involving Studio City Sound. I have also had the opportunity to learn from an amazing group of music professionals, including Edwin “Ed The Engineer” Diaz, Mike Johnson, Aben Eubanks, Tom Weir, Marcus Colbert and Ethan Shevin.

There is no official release date to share yet. Right now, the focus is on doing the work carefully: developing the music, strengthening my vocals and performance skills, and building an artistic identity that feels completely true to me.

Where our two paths come together

Motiv8 Dance Movement has always been an important part of both my journey and Vanessa’s.

At MDM, we have always had a place where both of our artistic paths can come together. Vanessa shares what she has learned as a singer, songwriter, recording artist and vocal coach, helping students develop their voices and discover new ways to express themselves. I have grown through dance training, competitions and performances that have taught me discipline, musicality, confidence and how to tell a story through movement.

For me, moving into music does not mean leaving dance behind. I want to bring original songs, live vocals, choreography, performance and visual storytelling together. Vanessa understands that dream because her own journey has also brought music, performance and creativity together.

Now we have the opportunity to combine what each of us loves and has learned. Vanessa can guide me as I develop my voice, and I can bring the movement, emotion and storytelling I have developed through dance. We each bring something different, and that is what makes creating together so exciting.

People have always known us as the Wong sisters, but this new chapter gives those words an even more special meaning. Vanessa and I have our own personalities, dreams and creative paths, but we also share so much. We share our love for music and performance, the values our parents and family have given us, many of the same friends and all the memories that come from growing up together.

Being the Wong sisters means celebrating what makes each of us different while always loving, supporting and believing in one another. I am so excited to see what we can create together and where this journey will take us.

A family moment I will always remember

My parents, Sergio Wong and Monique Tablada, have supported Vanessa and me as we followed different artistic paths. They taught us to celebrate each other's gifts, show up for one another and never treat life like a competition between sisters. Because of them, Vanessa's accomplishments have always made me proud, and I know she feels the same way about mine.

For our family, this is about two sisters with different experiences coming together at the right moment.

Vanessa brings everything she has learned as a vocalist, songwriter, performer, college graduate, entrepreneur and coach. I bring the discipline, musicality and expressive foundation I have developed through dance. Together, we are beginning a new kind of creative relationship. It is built on honesty, trust, hard work, lots of sister talks and a bond we have shared our entire lives.

I am grateful to my family, Eric, N.I. Music Group, the entire creative team and everyone at Motiv8 Dance Movement for believing in me and giving me the space to grow.

And to all my besties who have supported me, danced with me, encouraged me and followed every step of this journey: thank you. You have made me feel loved through every new adventure, and I hope you will stay with me as I learn, create and discover where this new chapter can lead

This is only the beginning. I cannot imagine anyone better to have beside me than my sister, my coach and one of my very best friends.

I love you, Vanessa. Thank you for believing in my voice and for helping me believe in it too.

With love,

Alyssa Wong
